Course Details

All courses are currently provisional, subject to final council approvals.

The Victor Harbor 10K follows a 1 lap course on roads and pathways with minimal elevation change.

Starting on the Esplanade at Warland Reserve, the 10K course heads south west on the Esplanade roadway for 1 km before joining the Encounter Bikeway to cross the Inman River and through Kent Reserve.  The course continues along the Franklin Parade roadway to the turnaround at the 4 km point near Nevin Avenue.  The course then follows the bike path back along Encounter Bay, through Kent Reserve, over the Inman River and alongside the Esplanade before rejoining the Esplanade roadway at King Street.  Runners will then pass through the start-finish area, cross the causeway to Granite Island and then turnaround for the final dash to glory at the finish line on Warland Reserve.

Please note that as you are running out on the road and back on the Encounter Bikeway, RUNNERS MUST KEEP RIGHT at all times to avoid oncoming runners.  The same applies on the section across the Granite Island Causeway and back to the Warland Reserve finish line – KEEP RIGHT!

Whilst the course is not certified, it will be wheel-measured to ensure that the distance is accurate.

      Drink Stations

Drink stations with water and Infinit Nutrition Orange Speed sports drink will be located at:

2.5 km – Franklin Parade @ Wood Street
5.5 km – Franklin Parade @ Wood Street
      7.9 KM – Esplanade @ Warland Reserve

Only compostable cups made from plant-based materials will be used during the Victor Harbor Half Marathon to minimize our impact on the environment. Please try to hit the bins provided at the drink stations and be aware that littering on the course will result in disqualification.  Runners may also carry their own drink bottle or cup to refill at drink stations.

      Toilets

A number of public toilets can be found along the 10K course that you will pass multiple times:

                • Lions Park Play Ground, Esplanade (300m and 7.7 km)
                • Kent Reserve (1.8 and 6.2 km)
                • Franklin Parade at Whalers Road turnaround (4 km)
                • Flinders Parade (8 km – just off course near the start-finish area)

      Cut Off Time

The Victor Harbor 10K course will be progressively closed at a pace of 12 minutes per kilometre (equivalent to a finish time of 2 hours) so is suitable for both runners and walkers.

A tail walker will follow the last participant around the course for safety reasons and to relieve marshals from their positions.

      Marshals

Please be courteous to our marshals and other volunteers. Remember that they are giving up their Sunday morning to make sure that you will enjoy your run.

ALWAYS FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN BY COURSE MARSHALS.

      Presentations

Trophies will be awarded to the first 3 male and first 3 female place-getters in the Victor Harbor 10K. Presentations will be made at the finish line shortly after the top 3 runners have finished.
