The Victor Harbor 5K follows a 1 lap course along the Encounter Bay bikeway. The course is on fully sealed paths and roads and is reasonably flat, with around 15m of elevation change over 5 KM.
Starting at the Soldiers’ Memorial Reserve on the Esplanade, the Victor Harbor 5K course heads south west for 1.25 KM before runners turn back to follow the same route back to the start-finish area. Runners then head north east for 1.25 KM to the Victor Harbor sailing club before returning to finish on Soldiers Memorial Reserve.
There will be one water stations on the 5K course located at 2.9K just past the Granite Island Causeway as you run north.
Only compostable cups made from plant-based materials will be used during the Victor Harbor Half Marathon to minimize our impact on the environment. Please try to hit the bins provided at the water stations and be aware that littering on the course will result in disqualification. Runners may also carry their own drink bottle or cup to refill at water stations.
A number of public toilets can be found along the 5K course that you will pass multiple times:
- Lions Park Play Ground, Esplanade
- Kent Reserve
- Skate Park / Croquet Club
Cut Off Time
The Victor Harbor 5K course will be progressively closed at a pace of 12 minutes per kilometre (equivalent to a finish time of 1 hour) so is suitable for both runners and walkers.
A tail walker will follow the last participant around the course for safety reasons and to relieve marshals from their positions.
Please be courteous to our marshals and other volunteers. Remember that they are giving up their Sunday morning to make sure that you will enjoy your run.
ALWAYS FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN BY COURSE MARSHALS.
Trophies will be awarded to the first 3 male and first 3 female place-getters in the Victor Harbor 5K. Presentations will be made at the finish line shortly after the top 3 runners have finished.
